The Lost Valley Trail is a 10.8-mile long loop in the Weldon Spring Conservation Area in St. Charles County, Missouri. It sports a moderately challenging difficulty and is popular for hiking, running, and biking. It takes most people around four hours to complete. Your dog is welcome to join you on your hiking journey as long as they are secured on a leash.

The Best Missouri Hiking Trails for History Buffs

The Lost Valley Trail and The Hamburg Loop in Weldon Spring Conservation Area are some of the best hiking trails in Missouri for history buffs. Along your hiking adventure, you will pass the historical remains of what was once Hamburg, Missouri. Hamburg was a peaceful farming community until the United States government took the land and displaced the residents in the 1940s. The residents were only given three months to move so an explosives production plant could be built to aid the war effort.

You can find the information for hiking The Lost Valley Trail and The Hamburg Loop in Missouri by clicking here. This Missouri hiking option is slightly shorter than The Lost Valley Trail at 6.9 miles. It takes most people an average of two and a half hours to complete and is considered moderately strenuous. You can still bring your dog along if you keep them on their leash.

The Lost Valley Trail and Hamburg Loop combination are paved, and lush Missouri trees shade a good portion. Make sure you stop by the place card that will give you more information about the former town of Hamburg, Missouri. Some of the historical remnants you’ll come across are fire hydrants, chimneys, and pipes. Some find this haunt a little eerie, and some go as far as to claim it’s haunted. You can be the judge when you explore The Lost Valley Trail and The Hamburg Loop yourself!
